Why Catholic? in Spanish

From: Lynn Ekstrom -- Por Que Ser Catolico?

A number of parishes -- like St. James (in Elizabethtown); our community, St. Edward; and St. Bartholomew Parish (both in Jeffersontown) have sizable numbers of persons meeting in Spanish to complete (and enjoy) Season 1 of Why Catholic?

At St. Edward's, to serve our hispanic households, we are using primarily the Spanish editions of the Family Faith Bulletins for the 6 sessions of Season 1: Liturgy and Sacraments. Our multi-generational grupo de familias meets on Mondays for -- 7:00 PM Mass in Espanol; 7:40-8:15 PM Adults Discussion of FFB; 8:15-8:30 PM Snacks & Social Time. During each 7:40 to 8:15 period, the many children attending gather, with several adult volunteers, for related activities in Spanish mostly (like the adults). The pre-teens and teenagers also meet (in English) with a youth ministry volunteer. Of course, all ages gather readily for those snacks and social time.

Season 1 is fast approaching an end. So is Lent 2011. Good luck to all who are coordinating and participating in Why Catholic? in whatever language(s)!
